Pool Coping Options: Bluestone, Travertine, Concrete

Travertine for cool underfoot + modern look. Bluestone for classic Main Line elegance. Concrete pavers for value + versatility.

What coping does

Coping is the finished edge that caps the pool shell where the wall meets the deck. It's what your hand touches when you climb out, and what the deck butts against. Coping choice defines the pool's aesthetic more than almost any other single decision.

Bluestone

Natural bluestone — quarried mostly in PA and NY — is the classic Main Line and Delaware County look. Elegant blue-grey tone, ages beautifully, holds up to salt water and freeze-thaw. $18–$32 per linear foot installed. Slightly rougher underfoot than travertine.

Travertine

Travertine (imported natural stone from Turkey/Italy) is the current modern favorite. Cool underfoot even in July sun, warm cream color, softer edges. Very durable when sealed. $22–$40 per linear foot installed. Our most popular request in the last three years.

Concrete pavers

Manufactured concrete pavers (Techo-Bloc, Cambridge, Belgard) offer the widest color and texture range and the best value. $14–$25 per linear foot installed. Won't age like natural stone but excellent 20-year performance.
