From signing the contract to first swim, expect 12–18 weeks on a typical custom gunite pool build in Delaware County. Complex projects (integrated spa, custom features, difficult site) can add 4 more weeks.
Phase-by-phase
Design + 3D rendering: 1–2 weeks. Permit review: 2–4 weeks (varies by township). Excavation + framing: 1 week. Rebar + rough plumbing: 3–5 days. Gunite spray + cure: 21–28 days (during cure we install decking and coping). Plaster + fill: 1 week. Chemistry startup + Pool School: 3–7 days.
What can delay it
Weather (heavy rain during excavation, freezing during gunite spray). Permit revisions. Rock or high water table discovered during dig. Custom material lead times (imported tile, imported coping). Contractor scheduling — a top-tier crew is usually booked 6–12 months out.
